Libya and China have agreed to organize a Libyan Chinese Economic Forum in Tripoli in mid-April of this year. The event aims to contribute to strengthening the economic partnership and opening new horizons for cooperation between the business communities of both countries.
The announcement was made yesterday by Libya’s General Union of Chambers of Commerce and came out of a meeting between the General Union and Ma Xue Liang, Ambassador of China to Libya, at its Tripoli headquarters.
The General Union said the meeting was part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and support prospects for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador of China was received by the Chairman and the Director General of the General Union, the Chairman of the Libyan Trade Network, the Union’s advisor, and several business leaders.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the depth of Libyan Chinese relations and the importance of developing them to serve mutual interests, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.
The Ambassador expressed his optimism regarding the improving situation in Libya, noting that the economic environment has become more attractive to investment, thus opening opportunities for Chinese companies to enter the Libyan market and contribute to development projects.
It will be recalled that a high-level Libyan delegation is currently on an official visit to Beijing where China has agreed to cancel tariffs on Libyan imports and enhance financial and banking cooperation.
