Libya Africa Portfolio receives Nigerien Ambassador to enhance coordination on the Transit Corridors Project

The Libyan African Portfolio (LAP) reported that it received the Ambassador of Niger yesterday at its Tripoli headquarters to enhance coordination on the Transit Corridors (Roads) Project.

 Ambassador Amadou Mohamed Othman, and his accompanying delegation, which included the First Counsellor and the Ambassador’s Secretary. They were welcomed by the Chairman and members of the High Committee for the Libya-Africa Transit Corridors Project.

Part of a series of meetings with missions of countries involved in the project
LAP said the meeting is part of a series of coordination meetings held by the High Committee with the diplomatic missions of countries involved in the project. The aim is to familiarize regional stakeholders with its pathways, ensure a unified vision regarding its economic and logistical objectives, and strengthen cooperation and coordination frameworks.

During the meeting, the Committee presented a visual presentation outlining the project’s strategic plans and developmental dimensions. Clarifications were also provided regarding inquiries raised by the Nigerien side.

Ambassador affirmed support and Niger’s commitment
For his part, LAP reported, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the importance of the project, affirming his support for this initiative and his country’s commitment to prioritizing it within the framework of supporting regional integration and enhancing economic and logistical cooperation between the two countries.

Ministerial-level meeting between the two countries to be arranged
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to begin arranging a ministerial-level meeting between the two countries, with the aim of translating the current understandings into procedural steps and agreements that support the next phase of the project.

LAP noted that the committee held a previous meeting with the Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Niger in May 2025 to introduce the project and its main objectives, which marked the beginning of coordinating efforts and strengthening cooperation between the two parties.
