GIZ Libya announced today that an intensive eight-day practical training course at the Higher Institute of Technological Studies (ISET) in Tozeur, Tunisia has successfully concluded, bringing together 14 technicians and engineers from the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL), REAoL Holding, and the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) for advanced hands-on photovoltaic (PV) training.
GIZ reported that throughout the training, participants worked directly on real PV systems: installing modules, configuring inverters, testing protection devices, troubleshooting live setups, and applying essential on-site safety practices. The focus was on practical learning, with real equipment and real operating conditions.
Participants, GIZ added, leave the training with strengthened technical skills, increased confidence, and a shared commitment to advancing Libya’s energy transition. The training contributes to building national capacity and supports the deployment of safer, more reliable solar PV solutions across the country.
This training is organised as part of the Sustainable Transition, Energy and Environmental Partnership (STEP) project, co-funded by the European Union in Libya and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and jointly implemented by GIZ and the Prime Minister’s Office in Libya.
