Industry and Minerals Ministry signs MoU with Hungary’s Rotary International Co. for joint infrastructure investment projects

A memorandum of understanding was signed in the city of Misrata last Wednesday (26 November) between the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, represented by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for Production Affairs, Industrial Zones and Public Affairs, and the Hungarian Rotary International Company Limited

The MoU entailed the two parties agreeing to implement joint investment projects in the field of infrastructure, such as water desalination and purification projects and public services.

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals said the signing of this memorandum comes as a continuation of the series of meetings held during the past period with the company’s representatives. It added that it affirms the desire of the two parties to develop a joint framework for work during the next phase, through the study and implementation of several projects that contribute to supporting development and improving vital services inside Libya.

It will be recalled that on 8 October the Ministry of Industry and Minerals reported that during a meeting on the same day at the Ministry’s Misrata office, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Mustafa Al-Samou, discussed a preliminary proposal submitted by the Hungarian company Rotary International Ltd to establish a cement factory in Libya.

In the same vein, Misrata Municipality reported last Wednesday (19 November) that it followed up on the meeting hosted by Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, and attended by the Mayor of Misrata, the Head of the Infrastructure Committee of the Municipal Council, the Hungarian Consul, and a delegation from Rotary International Ltd.

Also participating in the meeting were the Chairman of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISCO), the Chairman of MFZ Management Committee, and the Director of the Technical Affairs Department.
