Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, opened the International Advanced Surgery Centre in (the Al-Ghararat district of Sug Il Juma) Tripoli yesterday.
The project is part of 17 clinics and health centres to be inaugurated across Libya this month as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen health services.
The health projects are part of the wider 43 new projects to be launched/completed in 2025, the PM had promised last Wednesday.
Spain’s Vithas Group
The centre is to be operated by Spanish specialists from the Vithas Group. Grupo Vithas says it consists of 20 hospitals and 39 medical and healthcare centres located in 14 Spanish provinces.
It says its 11,300 professionals have made it a leading institution in Spanish health care. In addition, the group includes the Vithas Foundation, Vithas Diagnostic Network, the PlazaSalud purchasing network and a stake in the Juaneda Care Network, the first hospital group in the Balearic Islands.
Part of the Goodgrower group, Vithas’ corporate strategy, it says, is based on accredited quality of care, patient experience, research and innovation and social and environmental commitment.
The Libyan government said the centre uses ‘‘the latest techniques in the hands of the most skilled Spanish doctors’’.
The centre will specialise in:
- General Surgery
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Spine Surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Open Heart Surgery
