The Tripoli based Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, met last Wednesday, (14 January) with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Martin Longden, in the presence of the Director of the Foreign Trade Department, Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry and the Economic Counsellor at the British Embassy.
Minister Hwej discussed with the British side the formation of a joint economic committee, which works to strengthen economic and investment ties, and networking between chambers of commerce and business owners in both countries. The two sides also discussed the possibility of resuming the work of British companies in Libya to complete contracted projects in various sectors.
The importance of coordinating and unifying the British position to support the path of recovery and economic stability in Libya, was also discussed.
The Minister directed the Department of Foreign Trade to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Economic Counsellor at the British Embassy, within the framework of developing bilateral relations between the two sides.
