Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba launched last Tuesday (14 January) the ‘‘1,000 Entrepreneurs for 1,000 Projects’’ initiative at an event at Tripoli University. The initiative included the announcement of the establishment of a fund, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation and issuing a regulation regulating the work of startups.

The initiative aims to support Libyan youth and stimulate innovation in the field of entrepreneurship, within the framework of the government’s vision to enhance the role of startups in economic development.‎

‎Supporting youth and startups
In his opening speech, Aldabaiba stressed that the event embodies the government’s vision to support youth and startups and provide them with the appropriate environment for growth and development, thus contributing to building a strong and diversified economy.‎

‎Entrepreneurship, innovation and incubator centres in Libyan universities
The Prime Minister added that entrepreneurship and innovation centres in Libyan universities play a pivotal role in supporting this initiative, praising the presence of representatives from 26 Libyan universities and business incubator centres, which reflects the constructive cooperation between universities and the private sector to support entrepreneurs. ‎

‎Integration between universities and the private sector
Aldabaiba also announced the culmination of the efforts of the University of Tripoli within the 1,000 Job Opportunities initiative, in partnership with 50 companies from the private sector, in a step aimed at enhancing integration between universities and the private sector to provide new job opportunities and support graduates.‎
