The Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL), headed by its Chairman Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, held a meeting at its Tripoli headquarters last Thursday (11 December) with a delegation from the General Directorate for North Africa, Middle East and Gulf Affairs of the European Commission, headed by Mr. Floria Irma Cora.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed Libya’s National Strategy for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency and the efforts made in developing renewable energy projects. The delegation of the European Union affirmed its readiness to support REAoL in the fields of technical consultations and studies, in addition to training and qualification of specialized cadres.

It was also agreed to benefit from international expertise and review the pioneering experiences in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects implemented in several countries with the support of the European Union, and to work to strengthen cooperation with these countries to implement similar projects in Libya.

The meeting included presentations on the projects implemented by REAoL in several health centers, and the project of maintenance and development of the solar power plant of the University of Tripoli.
