Several MoU’s and contracts signed at final day of Libyan French Forum for Development and Reconstruction

Eastern Libya signs MoU to construct its section of the Egypt – Libya – Chad Transit Road Project

At the final day of the Libyan French Forum for Development and Reconstruction (26 to 27 November) held in Benghazi yesterday, two MoU’s and three contracts were signed, according to the Development and Reconstruction Fund for Libya.

The head of the Development and Reconstruction Fund for Libya, Belgassem Khalifa Haftar, conducted the signings with the French side, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Libya Mostafa Maharaje.‎

‎The Fund reported that among the most important of the agreements were:‎

‎- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Fund and Business France.‎

‎- A contract for the construction of two bridges in the city of Benghazi (Al-Galaa Bridge, and Tripoli Road Bridge) with ‎‎French construction company Matiere.‎

‎- Contracts with Veolia/Sidem for steam plants for the desalination of drinking water in Derna, Tobruk, Sousse, Abutraba.‎

‎- A contract with the ‘‘Slovenian’’ company for technical support in the work of steam power stations.‎

‎- Memorandum of Understanding with the French federation for modern technology, InfraNum (which brings together more than 200 French companies specialising in digital infrastructure).

‎After the completion of the signing ceremony of these documents, Belgassem Khalifa Haftar praised the success of the activities and work of the forum, stressing that the coming year carries many development and reconstruction projects in most Libyan cities and regions, within the national strategy of the Fund, calling on French companies to contribute to these strategic projects. ‎

‎B2B meetings
B2B meetings between Libyan and French companies operating in several fields continued on the final day of the event. These included meetings on housing, transport and communications, training and consulting, medical insurance, health care, education, infrastructure, and other areas of interest to both sides.‎

The fourth French delegation to Libya in two years
Commenting on the Benghazi event, the French Embassy posted that the visit comes as part of the strengthening of economic relations between Libya and France. It points out that this is the fourth delegation to visit Libya in two years following two delegations to Tripoli and one in Benghazi and Derna.
