French ambassador Mihraje leads delegation of companies to Benghazi and Derna

A delegation of 12 French companies, led by MEDEF International and accompanied by French Ambassador Mostafa Mihraje, visited Benghazi and Derna from 3 to 4 June.

The French embassy said ‘‘French companies have innovative and sustainable solutions to the needs expressed by the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, led by Belgassem Khalifa Haftar. Exchanges between economic actors have paved the way for new partnerships in sectors related to reconstruction and development’’.

‎The Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund said the visit comes within the framework of its strategic plan followed for International Cooperation.

‎Field visits
After a meeting, a field visit was held during which the French delegation was briefed on the stages of completion ‎‎of projects and the quality of their implementation within the site of the Sports City and the University of Benghazi.‎

‎The delegation also visited the Benghazi Medical Center (‘‘the 1200 hospital’’), in which an extensive meeting was held with the centre’s management in order to discuss how to develop the centre in logistical and medical terms, to raise the efficiency of the centre’s medical services.‎

Derna
‎On the second day, the French delegation visited Derna where they made detailed presentations about French companies’ specialisations in the fields of construction, hospital management, waste recycling, dam construction, sewage networks, advanced technology in digitisation, flood protection systems, beach fortification and protection of cities from disaster ‎‎risks.‎

‎A wide field visit then took place, during which the delegation was briefed on the places that are witnessing reconstruction work.

The Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund reported that the French delegation expressed at the end of their tour their great happiness with the city’s work, development and reconstruction that took place in a short period and regularly and its professional management.‎
