Serbia to prepare a proposal for a Libyan – Serbian Economic Forum

Serbia will prepare a proposal for a Libyan – Serbian Economic Forum to introduce the private sector and move towards economic relations that will bring progress and prosperity to the two countries.

The revelation was made by the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce after a meeting last Thursday (24 April) at its Tripoli headquarters with the Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gora Kikar, accompanied by the Serbian Ambassador to Libya, Dragan Todorovic.

The meeting with the General Union of Chambers follows on from the 24 April announcement that the Serbian embassy has resumed its work from Tripoli.

Importance of encouraging investors to benefit both parties
At the meeting, President of the Union, Mohamed Raied, stressed the depth of the historical relationship that has linked the two countries for several decades. He noted the need to continue to support the bonds of this friendship, especially in the field of economic and trade exchange. Also ,the importance of encouraging investors in a way that benefits both parties.

Firm desire to support bilateral economic cooperation
The North Africa and Middle East Department at the Serbian Foreign Ministry, in turn, stressed the depth of friendship between the two countries and expressed a firm desire to support economic cooperation between them.

Serbian Ambassador Todorovic, meanwhile, pointed out the importance of reactivating cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including agricultural, industrial, medical, and others.

The rest of the attendees spoke about the importance of economic cooperation and the necessity of pushing it towards advanced stages worthy of the capabilities of the two countries and the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
