The Ministry of Interior held its first ever congregation of thousands of members in a major display at the disused Tripoli International Airport yesterday.
The congregation was attended by a member of the Presidential Council, Abdalla Al-Lafi, Prime Minister of the Tripoli based Libyan government, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, the Acting Minister of Interior, Major General Imad Mustafa Al-Trabelsi, the two Deputies of the Ministry of the Interior for Public Affairs and Directorate Affairs, several security and military leaders, heads of departments and agencies, directors of departments, security directors in the regions, and several city and regional notables and sheikhs.
During his speech, the Interior Minister stressed that this congregation is the first for employees of the Ministry of Interior and a first in the history of the Ministry, noting that those present today are Ministry employees from all regions and cities of Libya.

The Minister also explained that the Ministry of Interior seeks to impose security and stability, and all police officers are present today in the streets and squares.
Secured borders?
The minister pointed out that the ministry succeeded during the last period in organizing several Security Directorates in the regions in addition to activating the border guard apparatus and securing the state’s borders, stressing that work is underway to organize the border, air and sea crossings.
Cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the security (militias) and military services?
The minister added that the focus has been on supporting the Security Directorates and their components, as they are the basic base for any security work needed by the citizen. The support will include the rest of the directorates across Libya, and, he claimed, there is great cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the security and military services.
Ras Ajdair Tunisian border crossing to be opened soon
The Minister indicated that coordination had been made with the Tunisian Minister of the Interior, Kamal Al-Fiqi, to reopen the Ras Ajdair border crossing during the coming period and to activate it by the ‘‘competent agencies of the two countries’’.
Tripoli will be completely evacuated by the security and military services soon
Trabelsi stressed that Tripoli will be completely evacuated by the security and military services in the coming period, and that security work will be limited to the components of the relevant Ministry of Interior, as well as the protection of government facilities and institutions.
He also stressed that the policemen have taken it upon themselves to maintain security and this is a national duty. We have the determination and determination to move forward towards achieving security, and we hope that all citizens and officials will cooperate with the ministry, he added.
The Minister saluted all members of the Ministry of Interior, calling on them to cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, especially in achieving the electoral entitlement.
For his part, the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government praised the successes of the Ministry of Interior in cooperating with the military forces to reduce fuel smuggling and immigration, which contributed to changing the bleak picture of Libya.
Securing the elections –
The Prime Minister stressed that the security services can secure the electoral entitlement and taking the country to safety, explaining that today’s gathering is a clear message that securing the will of Libyans is a final and settled matter. He said a security plan has been developed to implement the elections through communication between the security directorates and the branches of the Electoral Commission.
