The state Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) reported yesterday that the technical teams of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) were able to convert the well C309-65 in the Sarir oil field, which was classified as a ‘‘non-producing observation well’’ 17 years ago, into a productive well.
The well is now producing 1,134 barrels of oil per day with an associated water percentage of 2.9 percent.
Latest technology being used
The well was activated, the NOC reported, using directional drilling and re-entry technology and the use of modern technologies from Kamco and Baker Hughes (VisiTrak).
The NOC also reported that for the first time in North Africa, the latest Intelligent Completion (AICV) equipment from the Norwegian company Inflow Control and its partner Smart are used to reduce associated water.
The NOC reported that this comes as part of its ambitious plan to increase production rates.
