The Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS) announced yesterday the continuation of several types of surgical operations, including adult heart surgery, paediatric heart surgery, and chest surgery performed by several specialists in Libya at Tripoli University Hospital.
It invited Libyans who need these specialist surgeries to present themselves with the required documentation to the subcommittee at its Tripoli University Hospital headquarters, accompanied by the following documents.
Gharian Hospital continues joint and pelvic surgeries
The DSDMS also announced yesterday that joint and pelvic surgery operations are continuing at Gharian Central Hospital, where 24 operations were now performed (up on last week’s figures). The operations were conducted in cooperation with the hospital’s medical staff, and with the DSDMS’s support.
Chest and lung surgery operations
With regards to chest and lung surgery operations, the DSDMS reported that four operations were performed on two cases from the south, one from Surman, and one from Tripoli, at Tripoli University Hospital.
First knee operations performed at Zuwara
Last Thursday (12 October) Zuwarah Al-Bahri General Hospital announced that it had performed the first two knee joint replacement operations. These were performed in cooperation with the hospital’s medical staff and under the supervision of the DSDMS. The DSDMS provided all the medical needs necessary to perform these operations, Zuwara hospital stated.
Provide training
The DSDMS said surgical operations will continue to be performed in several hospitals in numerous specialties, in addition to training medical personnel on delicate operations.
This comes within the Tripoli government’s plan to localise treatment within Libya to obtain value on state spending and convenience to citizens. All operations are provided for free.
Last Wednesday (11 October), the DSDMS reported that Since September this year it had supported 42 operations in Bani Walid General Hospital (18), Gharian Hospital (10), Khoms hospital (6), Tripoli University Hospital (6) and the Heart Hospital (Tripoli) (2).
