The audit teams of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority will conduct a field visit to Libya’s Mitiga (Tripoli), Benina (Benghazi), and Misrata airports this October to review their readiness for the resumption of direct flights between Libya and Qatar, and the return of Qatar Airways.
The news was revealed today by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation for Air Transport Affairs, Khaled Swesi, to the Tripoli-based Libyan government’s media page, Hakomitna.
The news follows the signing today of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of civil aviation between Libya’s Civil Aviation Authority and the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Qatar.
Undersecretary Swesi welcomed the Qatari delegation and praised their desire for cooperation and support in the field of air transport and civil aviation, as this agreement comes within the framework of both of them seeking to enhance and develop joint cooperation in the field of civil aviation in general.
The memorandum aims to establish a framework of work between the two parties in developing and Operating channels of joint cooperation between in the field of:
- Air safety
- Air traffic management
- Civil aviation security and facilities
- Meteorological services
- Legal affairs
- Exchanging trained and qualified competencies
- Organizing workshops and training courses.
