Libyan Export Promotion Centre discusses with Italian Chamber export of olive oil, dates and tuna to Italy and Europe

A meeting was held in Tripoli on Sunday between the Director General of the Libyan Export Promotion Centre (LEPC), Mohamed Al-Deeb, and the Chairman of the National Industry Promotion Authority, Muftah Al-Senussi Ageela, to discuss topics related to local industry. The meeting focused on the quality of Libyan products and increasing competitiveness to open greater export horizons in international and regional markets.

Commenting on the meeting and its results, the Director of the Media Office of the LEPC, Mohamed Al-Belaili, said in an exclusive statement to Libya Herald, “The holding of the meeting at this time came to implement the national plan to encourage locally manufactured products and open windows for them to be exported abroad. This is especially with the presence of products and goods manufactured inside Libya that are committed to international standards, specifications, and requirements imposed by most countries on the goods exported to them.’’

‘‘The meeting between the LEPC and the Industry Promotion Authority also took place because the latter has jurisdiction in following up on locally manufactured products and has a direct relationship with encouraging local manufacturing and transferring industrial technologies from abroad to Libya. This is to meet local demand for several materials, goods, and products, arriving at the stage of exporting the surplus abroad, especially to countries that have a commercial relationship with Libya.

Workshop next year
Al-Belaili confirmed that the LEPC has agreed with the Industrial Promotion Authority to hold a workshop next year on packaging and storing local agricultural products in a good, elegant and modern form that would attract the attention of international customers.

International companies to be invited
He revealed that international companies specialized in these fields will be invited to the workshop as part of the LEPC’s plan to advance national industry and help local products penetrate global markets in accordance with internationally approved standards.

Industry Promotion Authority’s important role
Al-Belaili stressed the prominent role played by the Industry Promotion Authority in encouraging manufacturing companies in Libya to apply international standards and specifications to their products so that they can be competitive with what is produced in other countries and gain the trust of customers and consumers in the targeted countries.

He also praised the fundamental role played by the Industry Promotion Authority in supporting the successful attempts made by local companies in transferring and localising various types of industries, which have proven their success and commitment to international quality standards, won the approval of the local consumer, and confirmed their ability to compete globally.
