The Libyan Italian Chamber of Commerce discussed the mechanism of establishing a factory for exporting dates to Italy and European countries. The discussions came during a meeting on 26 June at the Chamber’s Tripoli headquarters.

The Chamber reported that this initiative comes within the framework of finding opportunities to export Libyan products.

The Executive Director of the Chamber, El-Hadi Garwash, met with the Projects Manager of the Agricultural Development Company, Atef Abdel Hamid, in the presence of an expert in protecting the production of dates and plants, El-Zawrak Ahmed, the Financial Director of the Arab Company for Storage and Agricultural Investment, Ashraf Mohamed, the Chamber’s Commercial Advisor, Zakaria Franka, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Italian Green Technology Company, Leo Delle Valle, and on behalf of Casa Libya Italy, Vincenzo Massardi, and Fabrizio Reggiani.

During the meeting, it was agreed to select samples of some of the local dates for export to Italy to ensure their conformity with international specifications. The Executive Director of the Chamber also indicated the importance of cooperation with the Libyan Export Promotion Centre (LEPC) and the relevant authorities for the success of this project.
