British Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Hurndall, accompanied by Farouk Al-Najah, the Political Affairs Advisor at the embassy, visited the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) yesterday. She was received by MFZ Chairman, Mohsen Al-Sagutri and the MFZ General Manager, Ayman Al-Darwish.
The Director of the Media Office at the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), Alaeddin Baba, said in his exclusive statement to the Libya Herald, that the discussion focused on inviting British companies to invest in the MFZ and benefit from the advantages and exemptions for the British investor. Ways to cooperate further with the Commercial Attaché at the UK embassy, business organizations and promotional and commercial agencies, were also discussed.
MFZ well set up for investors
Baba said the MFZ was ready to receive investment requests from British investors and to give them the necessary facilities to set up their projects within well-equipped sites such as infrastructure, buildings and open spaces surrounded by good roads, in addition to the availability of electricity and water supplies, high-speed internet and alternative energies.
33 investment requests in MFZ during 2022
The MFZ Media Director highlighted the continuing investment requests by local and foreign companies and investors to establish their investments and businesses in the MFZ, totalling 33 investment requests in 2022. He said many of these obtained approvals to carry out their various industrial, commercial, and service activities according to environmental standards and requirements.
Meanwhile, he revealed, the consideration of investment requests for this year are underway, for approval to grant them permission to set up their operations in the MFZ.
Infrastructure development reason for increased clients
Baba stressed that the increase in the number of investment requests is due to the completion of the first phase of the infrastructure project and the readiness of the first site in the free zone to receive investments, whether local or foreign.
