New UNSMIL head Abdoulaye Bathily Tuesday met the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat Bengdara, on Tuesday. UNSMIL reported that they discussed ways and means to strengthen the NOC’s independence as a sovereign institution.
Later Tuesday UNSMIL reported that Bathily met Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army, General Mohamed Al Haddad in Tripoli. UNSMIL reported that they discussed the overall security situation and progress on the military and security track.
It reported that Bathily emphasized the urgency of unifying Libya’s military and security institutions, and that he called for the resumption of dialogue between the two Chiefs of General Staff.
