‎Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba,‎ participated in the official reception and memorial ceremony held at the Tripoli headquarters of the Ministry of Defence yesterday in honour of the late Field Marshal Mohamed Al-Haddad ‎‎and his comrades, who were killed in a plane crash over Ankara last Tuesday 23 December.

‎The official military reception ceremony for the bodies, who were declared martyrs by the Libyan state, having died in the service of the nation, took place in accordance with what the government referred to as the approved military protocols and traditions, in the presence of the President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al-Menfi, the Deputy of the Presidential Council Abdullah Al-Lafi, the Minister of Interior Designate Major General Imad Trabelsi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence Major General Abdel Salam Al-Zoubi, and the Acting Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Salah Al-Nimroush, within the framework of an official ceremony that reflected institutional discipline and respect for military traditions.‎

‎Following the reception ceremony, the official memorial ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Libyan Army, in the presence of the Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qadirboh, the Director of the Military Intelligence Department, Major General Mahmoud Hamza, a number of ministers and government undersecretaries, military and security leaders, national figures, and the families and families of the martyrs.‎

‎Al-Haddad was one of the first believers in the need to build a regular army
In his speech during the memorial ceremony, the Prime Minister stressed that Libya today bids farewell to statesmen before they become military leaders, pointing out that Field Marshal Mohamed Al-Haddad was one of the first believers in the need to build a regular army, based on discipline and institutionalization, and its loyalty to God and then to the country, despite the challenges and difficult circumstances, until the military institution reached this level of organization and readiness.‎

‎Loyalty to the departed to be shown through continuing the building of an army
In his speech, Aldabaiba stressed that the state’s loyalty to the martyrs is not by words alone, but by continuing to work to complete the process of building a unified national military institution, based on law and discipline, and based on values and principles and not on individuals.‎

‎Investigations into plane crash continuing with full transparency
The Prime Minister also stressed that the investigations into the circumstances of the tragic incident are continuing with all seriousness and responsibility, saying, “We confirm, in our moments of farewell, that the investigations into this incident are continuing with full transparency and responsibility, and we are following them closely in cooperation with the Republic of Turkey, until all the circumstances are clarified and the full truth is revealed, in order to achieve the truth, respect the blood of the martyrs, and to preserve the trust of the Libyans.”‎

‎The memorial ceremony concluded by praying for mercy and forgiveness for the martyrs, and for their families and relatives with patience and solace, stressing that their sacrifices will continue to be a guiding light in the process of building the Libyan state and its institutions.‎

‎The memorial ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Army, Lieutenant General Selçoğlu, along with the Maltese Minister of Interior, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri, the Commander of the Maltese Armed Forces, Clinton O’Neill, and a number of foreign military attachés, in an official affirmation of the status of the martyrs and their national role.‎
