Libyan paints exported to EU

The Misrata based Libyan paints maker, Almadina, has made its first export shipment to the EU though Malta (Photo: Almadina paints).

Misrata based Almadina paints announced that it made its first export shipment to the EU last Wednesday.

The company reported that its products had already been exported to Africa and the Gulf. The first consignment was shipped to neighbouring Malta.

Long-term exports need political stability in Libya
Commenting on the export market potential, the company said it hoped stability would prevail in Libya, adding that what hinders it now from spreading in a large way in the global market is the instability of the country.

It explained that all the companies that order its goods seek to sign long-term contracts that stipulate a commitment to deadlines and fixed shipping. This, the paint company bemoaned, is difficult to do in the current unstable situation in Libya.
