London, 7 March 2021:
The Municipality of Central Tripoli (MCT) announced today that it will install a clock in old tower at the new Tripoli Recreational Sports Space, the former Girls’ Military Academy.
After the 2011 revolution, the Girls’ Military Academy had been demolished by the MCT as various militias, who became a local nuisance and security threat, kept using it as a base.
The area was converted into a multi-purpose recreational and sports space.
The four-faced clock will be of 5 metres diameter and will have the MCT’s logo on it. It will be installed in cooperation with the Libyana Mobile Phone Company.
The MCT said it hopes it will become one of the most prominent and distinctive Tripoli landmarks.
