LPDF’s Legal Committee presents recommendations on the constitutional basis for Libya’s 24 December 2021 elections

London, 15 January 2021:

The Legal Committee of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) presented their recommendations on the constitutional basis for elections, following the consensus reached on necessary amendments, UNSMIL reported yesterday.

These came after holding its fifth virtual session on 13 January. They agreed to hold another session next Saturday to complete their deliberations.

In her opening remarks, Acting UNSMIL head, Stephanie Williams, thanked the members of the Committee for their intensive efforts to support the holding of national elections on 24 December 2021.

UNSMIL expressed its gratitude to members of the Committee for their proposals and commitment to dialogue and renewed its pledge to facilitate the important work of the Legal Committee to ensure the holding of national elections on 24 December
