London, 11 March 2019:

A Turkish Airlines delegation visited Mitiga Airport to assess its readiness to receive its flights, the Libyan Airports Authority reported last week.

The Turkish Airlines delegation was received by representatives from Mitiga Airport, the Libyan Airports Authority, the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority, and the security agencies operating at the airport.

The inspection assessed the the airport and its facilities from a security and safety aspect and to assess whether the procedures followed and the equipment used at the airport met with internationally recognised standards in order to determine the possibility of Turkish Airlines returning to regular flights between Istanbul and Mitiga airport.
