Tripoli, 8 May 2017:
Visas issued on arrival at Mitiga Airport will no longer be permitted for Egyptians, Moroccans, Sudanese, Syrians or Bangladeshis, airlines have been told.
In a letter to Libyan Airlines, Afriqiyah Airways, Buraq, Libyan Wings and Medavia, the head of passport control at the airport, Mustafa Buazza, said if they flew such nationals to Libya they would be responsible for returning them. Any letters from any Libyan department authorising them to travel and pick up their visa on arrival were now null and void, he said.
In a move to ease travel to Libya, it had been agreed to allow some people to fly without a visa, providing they had been authorised to do so by the relevant authorities in Libya.
The change does not affect those already in possession of a valid in their passport.
