Tripoli, 14 May 2017:
Following yesterday’s announcement that exams were being suspended in response to last week’s kidnapping of the deputy head of the finance department Dr Said Mayouf, it has been announced today that classes in all faculties are now stopped until further notice.
The students’ union and staff are said to have jointly agreed today’s decision. Both are reported to be extremely angry and events, blaming the authorities and military forces for the situation.
Said is the second member of staff to have been abducted in the past three weeks.
So far there has been no news of Mayouf or of Dr Salem Beitelmal, the other kidnap victim.
