The 102 Brigade has been involved in anti-terrorist operations around Derna. Last April the unit disputed control of  Fataieh with the Derna Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council, which had earlier driven IS out of Derna itself. Both sides claimed to have ousted the terrorists from their last major position above the town and claimed to be in control.
