Benghazi, 26 April 2016:
A Serb national, named as Miroslav Tomic, . . .[restrict]was abducted on Saturday from the Messla oilfield some 550 kilometres south east of Benghazi. However, the Serbian foreign ministry has told the Libyan Herald that there are reports today that the 36-year old had been freed although this had not yet been confirmed.
Tomic, a pipeline engineer with German oil facilities company Ferrostaal, was working at the Messla field which is owned by Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO).
There were suggestions over the weekend that he had been seized for ransom. It is not known if one has been paid.
In February, two Serbian diplomats kidnapped in November were killed in the US air raid on a building in Sabratha being used by the so-called Islamic State. They had been held prisoner there. [/restrict]
