Benghazi, 29 May 2015:

For the eight time in a month, Islamic State (IS) gunmen again attacked the checkpoint . . .[restrict]at Lamluda, west of Guba, very early this morning, just after midnight killing, one guard and wounding three others.

According to initial reports, they also seized a fifth guard whom they took to Derna where they beheaded him.  He has been named as Ehab Faraj Bushalotia, but it is now said he was captured in an earlier IS attack on the checkpoint.

The guards at the checkpoint managed to repel the attack with the help of the air force and of local people. In a change of tactics, however, IS attacked from two sides.

The guard killed in the attack has been named as Adam Mohamed Awad Al-Galali.

As in Syria and Iraq, IS in Libya is increasingly beheading those it captures in a bid to terrorise its opponents into submission. Yesterday, a soldier seized in Benghazi was beheaded by IS.
