Tripoli, 1 December 2014:
Mystery surrounds a video circulating on social media which appears to show Mohamed Agheirani, the foreign . . .[restrict]minister in Omar Al-Hassi’s antigovernment involved in a brawl in the Libyan embassy in Amman.
A trainee pilot had entered a room in the embassy demanding that he be given the funding and support for his studies that he claimed he was due. He also protest that more should be done to help the people of eastern Libya.
The furious row degenerated into a brawl as the young man, wearing a tan leather jacket, was wrestled to the ground. Agheirani is shown close to the fight but does not himself appear to strike out at the angry visitor.
The mystery is what Hassi’s foreign minister was doing in the building. Until he was sacked earlier this year by the House of Representatives, for refusing to recognise its authority, Agheirani has been Libya’s ambassador to Jordan. It is unclear how he came to be in the embassy and questions are now being asked about the loyalty of the remaining diplomats. [/restrict]
