Benghazi, 4 October 2014:
Despite the sanctity of Eid, murders in Benghazi show no sign of ending.
A young local man, . . .[restrict]who has been named as Waleed Swehli, was reported shot dead near his home on the city’s Ashreen Street. The motive for his murder, however, is unknown. He is not thought to have been politically active.
Yesterday also saw what was almost certainly a political assassination. Salim Salash Obeidi, said to be a senior officer but who was working with the foreign ministry, was shot close to his home in Hay Dollar district.
As usual, his killers who escaped, are unknown and no efforts are expected to find out they were. In all the killings that have taken place in Benghazi over the past year and more, no one has ever been arrested. [/restrict]
