Tripoli, 11 July 2014:
The major point of delay for fast-moving traffic on Tripoli’s Airport Road is due to become . . .[restrict]a thing of the past, according to plans just announced by Abu Selim Council.
The traffic light-controlled intersection by Tripoli Gate 2 and the Renaissance Shopping Mall project is due to be replaced with an underpass which will take the smaller route beneath the Airport Road.
While traffic calmers at various points along this stretch of the multi-lane highway already slow drivers, there has long been frustration at the hold up at the lights themselves. In busy periods delays can be considerable.
Abu Selim Council has given no date for when bids will be invited from contractors nor when it would like work on the underpass to begin.
