Saturday victories for Libyan football teams

Tripoli, 25 May 2014:

Libyan football teams won two important matches against Tunisian teams yesterday.

Al-Ahly Benghazi won over Tunisian Espérance . . .[restrict]3-2 in its second match of the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League while the Libyan youth team (under-20s) won its match 3-1 against Tunisia in the second-round qualifiers for the African Nations Youth Championship.

The Al-Ahly – Espérance match was played in Taieb Mhiri Stadium in Sfax.

Edward Sadomba scored early in the match in the fourth minute, then his teammate Faraj Mbarak scored the second goal for Ahly in the twelth minute.  Espérance got back in the game after a goal was scored by Ahmed Akaishi in the 20th minute.  Mosese Orkuma added the third goal for Ahly in the 44th minute.  Oussama Darragi scored in the 78th minute for Esperance.

Ahly now has three points and briefly joins Tunisia’s CS Sfaxian and Algeria’s ES Setif in the number of points obtained in their group with three points each.  Today ES Setif will face CS Sfaxian in Algeria.

Al-Ahly’s next match will be against ES Setif on 7 June 2014.

Yesterday’s match between the Libyan and Tunisian Under 20s teams for the African Nations Youth Championship was their game  the first ending in a draw. By winning yesterday’s match the Libyan team advances to the third-round qualifiers to be held later this summer. [/restrict]
