The announcement came following meetings between Libyan oil minister Abdulbari Ali Abdel-Hadi Al-Arusi and OAPEC Secretary-General Abbas Al-Naqi,.
Oil and Gas Ministry information officer Tarek Dada’a told the Libya Herald that Arusi had been keen to host the meeting, not least because he believed that such important regional forums, would give support to the country’s post-revolution reconstruction and development.
Arusi assured Naqi that Libya would pull out all stops to ensure that the largest energy forum in the Arab world was a success. He added that Libyan civil society organisations and universities as well as local companies, would contribute papers to the conference.
Next year, the OAPEC gathering is due to focus on the sustainable development of energy sources in the Arab world. [/restrict]
