Benghazi Local Council condemned the storming of its headquarters on Tuesday, 6 March, by a group of young . . .[restrict]people and the attack on its deputy leader as well as the destruction of some of the council’s equipment.
The council’s media spokesman, Osama Sharif, said in a press conference that the group which stormed the council had demanded a financial rewards from the Ministry of Finance and some other state institutions in Benghazi in return of providing security and protection of the city’s buildings and roads during the revolution.
He said the council had no knowledge of any such financial bonuses or grants nor the mechanism by which they could be distributed. [/restrict]
