Libya: The Transition to Environmental Sustainability

Dear Editor,

May I use your columns to ask an important question for Libya?  Does Libya want to become environmentally sustainable?

I calculate . . .[restrict]that Libya has only a few decades in which to guarantee a sustainable supply of fresh water, powered by solar energy. That would be the backbone of sustainability. Conversion to solar energy of both the pumping of GMR water and of desalination would free up much oil for profitable export. The next step would be to expand solar energy in order to profit from its export to Europe. Of course, there is much more to Libya’s transition to environmental sustainability, as set out in my new draft book of that title.

The purpose of this note is to ask who is interested in such a transition to environmental sustainability. Would you like to create an email discussion group of kindred spirits to debate such a transition? If such a discussion group already exists, I would like to become a member.  You are cordially invited to email me at any time.

All best wishes,
