A team of Sudanese doctors arrived in Obari yesterday evening, Sunday, to work at the local hospital. They will . . .[restrict]based in the departments of cardiology and internal medicine and of ophthalmology and nursing. Others will be working in various medical centres in the area.
Their arrival follows an agreement last April between Tripoli and Khartoum to bring some 600 Sudanese doctors to Libya to address a skills shortage in the country.
Obari is just one of a number of Libyan towns have been experiencing severe shortages of medical staff in almost all fields.
Sudanese professionals in other sectors are also expected soon. The April agreement signed by Libyan Labour Minister Mustafa Rujbani and his Sudanese counterpart Farah Mustafa covered not only heathcare but also engineering, hospitality and tourism as well. [/restrict]
