Tripoli, 8 October:
It was announced today, Monday, that another of July’s victors in the elections to the General National Congress has . . .[restrict]lost her appeal against the Integrity Commission decision to ban her.
According to Integrity Commission spokesman Nasser Bennour, Tripoli’s Appeal Court this morning upheld the commission’s decision to bar Maryam Ali Ahmed Farda.
Ms Farda, a member of the National Forces Alliance, was elected in Tripoli’s Bu Sleem/Aimn Zarza sub-constituency. She is the first party list member to be definatively barred from Congress.
Earlier this month, the court upheld the Commission’s decision to ban four independent GNC members.
The cases of two others banned by the Commission are still being assessed by judges.
On 2 October, the Commission announced that an eighth member, Salem Al-Ahmar Al-Hadi Ali from Bani Walid, was also barred. [/restrict]
