Tripoli, 4 July:
Sources at the local council in the border town of Musaid have said that security officers managed on Tuesday to capture 93 . . .[restrict]illegal immigrants who had crossed from Egypt into Libyan territory.
The sources added that the illegal immigrants — Egyptians, Somalis and other African nationalities were immediately deported due to the lack of specialised handing centers and shelters in the area. They were questioned and and given medical tests to make sure they were free from any diseases before being deported.
The director of national security at Musaid expressed concern about the large increase in the number of illegal immigrants crossing daily into Libya. He complained about the the lack of equipment and skills available as well as of health protection for members of the security forces who came into daily contact with the ever increasing numbers of immigrants.
