Tripoli, 10 May:
The Ministry of Culture and Civil Society has approved the hosting of the first film festival for Arabic and . . .[restrict]Mediterranean cinema in Tripoli.
The festival will present films of short and middle length pertaining to the Arab Spring uprisings that have transformed much of North Africa and the Middle East over the past 18 months. The festival’s director, Ramadan Saleem, said that the festival will be hosted in the last week of June, and they are currently looking for a location to host the screenings. Saleem added that although this year’s festival will confine itself to short and documentary films, the organisers plan to include longer films going forwards.
Saleem asserted that there will be three awards given for the best films in addition to a Best Artwork award, as well as some unofficial awards to be presented by other organisations.
