Calling all Libyan playwrights, choreographers and multimedia artists

Tripoli, 11 November:

‘Dancing on the Edge: Inspiring Middle . . .[restrict]Eastern Arts and Culture’, a Netherlands-based organisation that presents, promotes and supports Middle Eastern and North African arts and culture, is now looking for submissions for its 2013 multidisciplinary arts festival.

The Dancing on the Edge 2013 festival will be the fourth of its kind. Libya has not been represented in previous festivals, so 2013 could be the year to take some Libyan artistic talent to Europe.

Dancing on the Edge said: “We are looking for contemporary dance and theatre performances as well as multi-media installations from the Middle East and North African region.”

Entries should be works of artistic quality and should be made or performed by professional artists. The artwork should have a relatively small cast and should not require complicated sets or technical support.

Theatrical works should either be in English or be suitable for simple subtitling. Entries sent in Arabic or other languages, should be accompanied by an English translation. The groups or artists represented must be from, and working in, the Middle Eastern and North African region.

Dancing on the Edge has said that preference will be given to works that address societally relevant issues in an artistically interesting way, made by artists with a personal signature.

The first deadline is 1 December 2012.

The Dancing on the Edge Festival 2013 will take place in November 2013.
