Tripoli, 8 June:
A young woman working for the Jumhuriya Bank in Murzuk was shot in an attack at the branch on . . .[restrict]Thursday morning.
The attack appears to have been the result of personal grudge and not an attempted bank heist, contrary to official reports. According to local Tebu activist Bubakr Muhammed, it followed an argument in the bank between a Tebu woman who, he said, had an account at the branch and bank staff who refused to pay her out any money.
Her brother then went to the bank claiming discrimination against Tebus. The row turned violent and shots were fired. It is not clear if the female employee was deliberately targeted. Her injuries were not thought to be serious. She was taken to the local hospital but was later released.
The man, who has been named simply as Abdullah, then managed to escape. He is still being sought.
