Tunis, 1 December 2015:
The only people who will benefit from continued Libyan disunity will be the terrorists, Algerian . . .[restrict]minister for Maghreb Affairs Abdelkader Messahel said today.
“”In the absence of a consensual solution and a political settlement, the situation in this neighbouring country risks deteriorating in the sole interest of terrorist groups” warned Messahel.
He said that Algeria wanted to see its Libyan brothers “through their vision and will overcome their disputes by upholding the supreme interest of their country and adopting a political agreement for the formation of a national unity government”.
Messahel was opening a one-day Algiers meeting of Libya’s neighbours attended by Egypt, the Sudan, Niger, Chad and Tunisia as well Libyan foreign minister Mohamed Dairi. It is the seventh time these six countries have come together to discuss Libya since the fall of Qaddafi.
New UNSMIL chief Martin Kobler was also there along with representatives from the EU, the Arab League and the African Union. [/restrict]
