There has been another attempted assassination in Ajdabiya of an army officer.
The commander of the Border . . .[restrict]Guards’ 21 Battalion, Lieutenant Mohammed Absat Zwai, survived a hail of bullets fired at him in Wefaq Street just after midnight. Zwai, who was one his way home, survived the attack with only an injured hand. He was discharged after treatment at Maqrif hospital.
Six days ago, another army officer, Colonel Gamal Zwai (no relation) was unharmed in a similar attack.
Sources in the town told the Libya Herald that Zwai was getting into his vehicle when he was fired by by gunmen in two cars, an Opel and a Mitsubishi. The Opel was reportedly later found burnt out.
Ajdabiya last month drove Daesh and Ansar Al-Sharia militants out of the town. However Zwai had recently given a TV interview in which he said that he believed that the terrorists had left sleeper cells in the town.
The main job of Zwai’s unit is to man the Tobruk Gate checkpoint guarding the coastal road. [/restrict]
