At least one person was killed when a car bomb exploded as mourners left the Benghazi . . .[restrict]funeral of murdered intelligence officer Kamal Bazaza.
The blast which injured six others, two of them seriously, is believed to be the first time in Libya, that the tactic of bombing the funeral of a terror victim has been used. Such explosions are common in Iraq.
The attack at around 1.00pm today occurred as scores of people where leaving the Al-Hawari cemetery where they had come to pay their respects to Bazaza, who died early today after being blown up in his car in the centre of Benghazi yesterday morning.
The man killed in the funeral blast was so badly injured he could not immediately be identified. There has been speculation that the blast had been caused by a suicide bomber but Benghazi’s Joint Security Control Room later ruled this out, saying it was a remotely-detonated device.
