Pre-trial court proceedings against Abdullah Senussi and some other 30 leading Qaddafi-regime figures continued today in . . .[restrict]a closed-door courtroom session in Tripoli today.
At the court attached to the Hadba prison where the men are bing held, charges were read out to the defendants who included Qaddafi’s External Security Agency head Abu Zaid Omar Dorda, former Foreign Minister Abdulati El-Obaidi, General People’s Conference head Mohamed Al-Zway, former Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Al-Mahmoudi, and Tripoli Internal Security Agency head Mansour Dhou. Although present, none of the defendants spoke. Today’s proceeding looked primarily at the nature of the charges and whether they should be accepted, dismissed or delayed, pending further evidence.
The proceedings were again adjourned until 24 October when the court will decide whether to send the men for trial on the charges against them or not.
The charges against the former regime officials include murder, incitement to rape, and corruption. [/restrict]
