A new Libyan embassy in Ireland will be opened by the end of the year, according to the . . .[restrict]Irish Times.
“There is a real need for an embassy here,” said Faheem Bukhatwa, speaking on behalf of the large Libyan community in Ireland, “to offer consular assistance and to further develop relations between Libya and Ireland.”
Trade relations between Libya and Ireland are already improving. A shipment of 2,900 young Irish bulls – the first in 17 years – left the Bellvue Port of Waterford on 19 February, bound for Tripoli.
Ireland has the second largest Libyan expatriate community in Europe, after Britain. [/restrict]
