Jumhuria bank announces its Palm Payment service

Jumhouria Bank, Libya’s biggest bank, has announced its Palm-scan Payment service. The launch was announced during the bank’s participation at the 52 Tripoli International Fair, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Jumhouria bank said the launch comes as part of its wider policy and the Central Bank of Libya’s strategy to promote financial inclusion.

The bank added that as part of its participation in the 52nd Tripoli International Fair, it is preparing to launch a comprehensive suite of smart digital services. The bank revealed that the launch will be attended by the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, who visited the bank’s pavilion and reviewed the most prominent of these innovative solutions.

This bank said step reflects its leadership in adopting the latest banking technologies. The new services include artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, interactive chat, banking via WhatsApp, smart savings solutions, foreign currency account management, and advanced systems for compliance, monitoring suspicious transactions, and combating money laundering.

Through this initiative, Jumhouria Bank said it reaffirms its unwavering commitment to providing innovative and secure banking services, setting new standards in the world of digital services and continuing its journey as a friendly bank.

Wahda bank
It will be recalled that Wahda bank had announced back in January this year that it will be introducing ”soon” its “Edei”, the first palm-scan payment service in Libya.

It is still unclear if either bank has received Central Bank of Libya clearance to store customers’ personal biometric data.
