Italy’s Nova news agency reported yesterday that Libya topped the list of oil suppliers to Italy in 2025, with total imports reaching 13,434,662 tons, equivalent to nearly a quarter of Italy’s total crude oil imports.
The report said Libya surpassed several major exporting countries, including Greece, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan, to claim the top spot as an oil supplier to the Italian market.
The report also indicated that Libya was the leading oil supplier to Italy during the first seven months of 2024, with imports reaching approximately 7.39 million tons, representing 22.3% of total imports during that period.
In October 2025, the US Energy Information Administration revealed that Libyan crude oil exports had increased significantly, with five European countries, led by Italy and Spain, accounting for 71% of Libyan exports during the first nine months of the previous year.
