Under the supervision and organization of the General Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, and in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Director General of the General Union, the Libyan International Maritime Economy Forum (10 to 11 January) commenced yesterday in Misrata Free Zone.

The opening session was attended by the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej; Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport; Mohsen Al-Saqoutri, Chairman of Misrata Free Zone; Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers; as well as leaders of Misrata Free Zone and several officials, experts, and specialists.

The forum is being hosted by the Misrata Free Zone, in cooperation with the Libyan Trade Network and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, within the framework of the institutional role of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce in organizing and supporting national economic initiatives with regional and international dimensions.

The forum aims to highlight the importance of the maritime economy in supporting international trade and developing maritime transport and logistics systems. This was achieved through dialogue sessions and international participation that contributed to enhancing investment opportunities and solidifying Libya’s position as a promising regional hub in the maritime economy.
